BilCom was founded in 2003 by a group of word professionals — translators, journalists and academics — who were dissatisfied with the quality of Spanish translations surrounding us in our daily lives. Because we’ve assembled a top-quality team of certified translators who are masters of both Spanish and English, you receive for your Hispanic readers a higher level of accuracy and richness of style than from other agencies.
All projects are directed by the following group leaders:

Patricia V. Rivera, an experienced bilingual writer knowledgeable about Hispanic culture and issues, founded BilCom Group. She manages the group's day-to-day operations. As a journalist, she has worked for The New York Times, The News Journal  in Wilmington, Delaware, USA Today and The Dallas Morning News. Her work in marketing communications includes writing copy for Web sites and print brochures, narratives about companies for award nominations, and press releases about special events. The recipient of a Pew Fellowship in International Journalism, Patricia holds a B.S. in Communications from the University of Tennessee, where she focused her studies on print journalism and Latin American studies. She's also an adjunct Spanish instructor at Delaware Technical & Community College and a member of the American Translators Association.

Yolanda Ruiz, a consummate word professional with a keen eye for detail, works as the group’s chief editor. Her well-rounded experience includes translation assignments with scientific and health organizations as well as with movie producers and cultural groups. She has worked as a language teacher and as a chief grader for translation exams in the United States. Yolanda holds an M.A. in English Linguistics and a B.A. in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Málaga, Spain. She also received advanced translation training in Madrid and London.

María Virginia Ariztoy, a resourceful language professional, is the group’s head translator. She’s also skilled in editing and enhancing text so that it really shines. Virginia has worked extensively with North American companies and understands regional aspects of Spanish in the United States. She has also worked as a language teacher and as an academic coordinator. Virginia holds a B.S. in Translation from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. A certified translator, she has completed several translation, language and teaching courses at institutions throughout the Americas.

Oscar Rivera-Rodas, a university professor and an award-winning poet, serves as the group’s language consultant. He teaches Latin American literature and culture and belongs to the influential Real Academia Española, the official watchdog of the Spanish language. Oscar began his career as a journalist, then turned to academia to pursue advanced research in the Spanish language and culture. Besides being a well-known lecturer with contacts throughout Latin America, he has handled translations and editing for public relations agencies, Web sites, non-profit groups and scholarly journals. He focused on Hispanic studies while pursuing an M.A. from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis.

Jerry Weers, an accomplished artist, leads the group's creative designs division. A master at using visual communications to help business leaders meet their strategic goals, he has developed logos and corporate visual identities for businesses in Latin America and communications material for a symphony orchestra and other cultural and non-profit organizations in the United States. He also regularly exhibits his work at galleries throughout the Southwest. Jerry holds a B.A. in English from Texas Lutheran College and later studied at the San Antonio Art Institute and the Scottsdale Artists' School.
